  1. I’m interested in a downdraft unit 100,000 btu lp gas 3 ton ac heat pump
What models are compatible for my requirements.
1800 sq ft modular in Northern Michigan

    1. It sounds like you are looking for a Signature Series split system 3 ton air conditioner and 100k BTU gas furnace.

    1. For one room? A ductless mini-split heat pump like the MRCOOL DIY, MRCOOL Oasis ES, or MRCOOL Hyper Heat would be your best options.

        1. For the Oasis, you would need to make sure you get a refrigerant line. A base pad or mounting bracket are also a good option.

          1. We don’t sell these items directly, and most of our retailers have their own brands. If you wish to purchase from Sylvane, we would recommend you contact them directly at 1-800-934-9194.

  2. Your products are very impressive and the DIY seems really easy.
Are there any plans in the works to make a split system water heater? It seems to me that you have all the systems needed. I’m very interested in a split system water heater.

    Thank you, Jim

    1. We don’t have any plans to make a a split system water heater, but that is a very interesting idea. What advantages would a split system provide you?

      1. HI, Thank you for your reply. The “Heat Pump (HP) water heaters” that you can purchase now all have the compressor setting on top of the water tank. The HP water heaters get there heat from the inside air, thereby cooling the inside air requiring the heating system to use more fuel to heat the inside air. If a split system were used, the compressor would be outside and would be getting heat from the outside air.

        Thank you, Jim

  3. I’m looking to cool and heat 900 sq feet. Will the DIY 12000 BTU 17.7 seer work in that space. Also can I order the unit with 15 foot lines.

    1. A 12k unit would be under-sized for 900 sq ft. We would recommend the DIY 24k for a space that size. Due to the nature of the design, the line sets for the DIY products are all the same length: 25 ft.

  4. I cannot seem to find someone in my area that services the units everyone here in Arkansas seems to think they are from another planet please help if u can

    1. How did they know we build these on Venus?! But, seriously, give us a call at 270-366-0457, and we’ll help anyway we can.

  5. Good morning,
I am looking to heat and cool a one bedroom 800 sq ft cabin. Looking for best option, affordability and efficiency. Dual zone vs single, etc.
    Thanks for any input.

    1. For a single room, I would definitely recommend a single-zone 24k unit. If you want to save money on the install, the MRCOOL DIY is a great option. For superior heating efficiency, the Oasis HyperHeat is a great fit.

    1. Call us at 270-366-0457 and we can direct you to the nearest local dealer that may provide installation services in your area.

  6. Considering installation of a small split system on a 46′ houseboat (650 sq feet). Can the condenser unit be placed higher up than the air handler?

  7. I have a small single-story house (1,000 sq ft) that currently has no air conditioning. Is the DIY system able to do multiple rooms? If not, do you have installers in the 95037 area?

    1. The DIY can cool or heat multiple areas depending on placement and interior layout. However, sometimes a dedicated multi-zone unit like our Olympus is a better choice. Alternatively, you might be able to get the air comfort you want with two smaller DIYs placed on different sides of the house. There is so much variability in housing in the US that it is really hard to say for sure without seeing the layout.

  8. We have a 6000 SQ Foot Retail Shop which also has a separate Main Garage Bay, a back office with separated break room, and a small 1 bedroom apartment above.

We have high ceilings in the retail space as well as a portion of the main garage bay. We have electric and gas in the building. The gas is currently hooked up to a couple old (Approximately 15 to 20 year old) shop style heaters that are very inefficient both for gas and electricity.

    We have no AC.

The issue currently with the space we have is during the winter when the heat was on it would not heat the shop evenly and half the garage bay missed out on any of the heat.

The apartment has a small gas fireplace also very inefficient. No AC. The office and break room have no heat or AC.

With the size of the building and the multitude of places we are not sure if your system would work for us. The company that came to us wanted to hang expensive ductless systems inside the shop that are internal use at a cost of well over $30,000

For us that is more than over priced but setting up something for all of these different zones and some of the areas do not have any access to outside walls for the units I have reviewed so far would not be feasible.

Can you provide us with an option that would give us the best bang for our buck. A lot of this type of work can require exhaustive permitting so we are trying to reduce cots the best we can and find the best system for our situation.

    1. That is a very large space that would require significant investment to provide effective heating and cooling. The fact that not all areas have access to outside walls for easy ductless installation further complicates the issue. For a space that large and complex, it is very hard for us to provide sound advice without being there. The best advice we could give would be to get a second and maybe a third opinion on the cost to heat and cool the area.

  9. I have an insulated 2400sf shop with 15ft walls. 2200sf is open and there is a 10x20sf office area that is separate but I am not worried as much about it as it is easier to do something for. There are no windows, just some insulated garage doors 12×12 and a 36″ walk in door. But they are closed the vast majority of the time. Was thinking of two of your DIY on each side of the shop(40×60′), and I am worried more about cooling than heat right now for better use in the summer. I have some great wall fans which help move air, but if I could cool it some, it would make summer work that much better. Can you make a suggestion on what you would think would be a good solution(s).

    Thx

  10. Is it possible to combine the Universal 4/5 ton condenser/heat pump and your AC coil with one of your 95% furnaces as a backup for the cold winters of the north east.
