Hickory, Kentucky – November 10, 2020 – MRCOOL today announced that its new MRCOOL DIY Multi-Zone Ductless Mini-Split System came in as a finalist in the 2021 AHR Expo Innovation Awards. The DIY Multi-Zone was chosen due to its innovative approach to ductless mini-split installation. Like its predecessor, the MRCOOL DIY ductless mini-split, the DIY Multi-Zone mini-split uses patent pending technology to eliminate the necessity of in-field vacuuming and charging. Plus, all components of the DIY Multi-Zone can be connected without cutting or brazing. It is a highly consumer friendly product that decreases the time and expense of installing a traditional multi-zone heating and cooling system.

AHR Innovation Awards

“We think of the DIY Multi-Zone as a game changer, and we’re incredibly pleased with how well it performed in the Innovation Awards,” said Matt Seabaugh, Business Development Director at MRCOOL. “This is a system that doesn’t require any training to install. We use Quick Connect lines to hook up the air handlers and the condenser. You don’t need specialized tools. If you have a tool box in your garage, you probably already have everything you need for the DIY Multi-Zone.”

According to Mr. Seabaugh, these innovations highlighted by the AHR Expo are increasingly important as consumers become more price conscious in the current economic environment. For homeowners who are looking to save money, the DIY Multi-Zone could be a great resource.

“This technology will be a great benefit to the HVAC professional,” said Seabaugh. “Just like our standard DIY, the Multi-Zone pre-charged refrigerant lines are a major time saver for a contractor. It allows them to complete more jobs in a shorter amount of time. It’s much faster and easier to train employees. This can be a game changer for a lot of HVAC companies.”

Conducted annually by the AHRI and ASHRAE, the AHR Expo Innovation Awards is a competition that honors inventive and original products showcased at each year’s AHR Expo. Products compete head-to-head in the categories like building automation, cooling, green building, heating, and more. Third-party ASHRAE member judges evaluate the competitors based on their innovations, creativity, applicability, and other factors.

One sentence says “Plus, all components of the DIY Multi-Zone can be connected with cutting or brazing.” I think you mean WITHOUT cutting or brazing…

  2. How would I size my MRCOOL Mimi Split? I don’t want to over or under size. The area is one room of 2560 cu ft. (20x16x8).

      1. My house is a two-story home 2800 ft.² I have a small basement I was wondering how I should size a unit from my home is there anyway you can help me with this so I can come up with a cost

        1. Since you’ll be dealing with multiple air handlers, you would need the square footage of each room that you would like to place and air handler in. The largest condenser we offer is a 36k, and as for air handlers, a 9k usually covers around 250 square feet, a 12k can handle 500 square feet, an 18k usually takes care of 750 square feet, and a 24k air handler can cool and heat 1,000 square feet. You can also take a look at https://mrcooldiy.com/ for more information.

  3. I want to use the diy mini split in an off grid location. Im searching around the website but cant find, if indeed it exists any information for the solar power version. What volatage does it run on, is there ant reccommended schematic fof combination of solar panels and batteries ? Thank you.

  4. Why don’t you need to vacuum out the supply line before opening the freon valves with this system.

    1. Every part of the DIY system is accurately pre-charged and ready to go as soon as you get the line set connected to the air handler and the condenser. The line set is pre-charged, so there is no need for any special tools during installation.

      1. Can you tell me specifically if there is an Energy-star certified DIY two zone model with a 9k and an 18k head? My power company is offering a nice rebate but it must be ES certified.
        Thanks!

  5. I myseif installed a 36k DIY minisplit in less than 8 hours including wiring & start up OFF THE HOOK!!!
