With the 18k BTU system achieving a SEER rating of 22, you can trust this system to take care of your indoor climate concerns without sacrificing your paycheck.

The special thing about this variable speed system is that it is compatible with pre-charged line sets! The 18k, 24k, and 30k BTU models come with a 25 foot MRCOOL® Quick Connect® Pre-Charged line set, and the 36k, 48k, and 60k BTU systems are compatible with the MRCOOL® No-Vac® Quick Connect® Pre-Charged line set. These pre-charged line sets are a great asset when it comes to installation, because it shortens the entire process significantly for your HVAC professional. There’s no need for special HVAC tools if you use these line sets! However, if you prefer a traditional flare nut configuration installation method, you can have an HVAC professional install the Central Ducted System in this manner for you.

    1. The Central Ducted Heat Pump system is initially available at a lower price point than the Universal, which can be a bit daunting when you’re looking for a unit. It also offers greater size variability, with sizes like 18k and 30k systems. Something new about this system is that it has a 10 year labor warranty, too! While the Universal does have a better range of operating temperatures and higher efficiencies overall, the Central Ducted system has a more attainable price point and offers a better warranty. Both are great, though, and meet different needs for different people!

      1. If I’m not worried about initial cost I would like to know which of the 2 would be more efficient. Also are these both inverter units?

        1. These are both inverter units. The Central Ducted DC Inverter heat pump has a comparable SEER rating to the Universal, so they are nearly as efficient as each other. Efficiencies may depend on the size of the unit.

  1. Who can solve the problem of buying a control board from you for my Mr cool split 3 generation ? I don’t know why they sell split and they are not able to provide the part even if you buy it, so why do they sell products if they are not able to solve the problem for the customer.

  2. Does the Central Ducted Heat Pump system or the Universal Series have a Dry or Dehumidification mode of operation, like the mini splits have, without cooling down the air considerably? I live on the Central Coast of California and cooling is not as important as dehumidification in the summer.

And I hope you are not going to sell my information ! Anyway , I could not find the cost so You waisted my time ! I don’t do business with People that waist my time !

  4. What is the Operating Temp’s to cool and heat? I see that the universal goes down to approx -21F but can’t find specs on this… Also can this model be controlled by any other thermostat besides the one that comes with it?

    1. The 18k and 24k capacities will cool in temperatures as low as -13º Fahrenheit and as high as 122º, and the 30k-60k capacities will cool in temperatures as low as 5º F and as high as 122º F. The 18k and 24k will heat in a range of -13º to 75º F, and the 30k-60k will heat in a range of 5º to 75º F.

  5. Looking for more details on the controller/thermostat. I have reviewed the available manual. Questions are 1) is it compatible with any type of wifi/phone application? 2) does it monitor and control humidity along with temperature? 3) possible to integrate into any type of smart zoning system? 3) is it possible to integrate this system in a dual fuel type system?

    1. It does not have an app, and it controls humidity as it cools. There are no plans for a smart zoning system as of yet. It may be possible to incorporate this system in a dual fuel setting, although for highest efficiencies it is recommended to operate the unit with the condenser and air handler.

      1. What does one give up by using a 3rd party thermostat? A “smart” and connected thermostat is critical for any remotely managed property, I want to know what I lose by not using your thermostat and instead use something like an ecobee4 that does support configurable staging and other advanced settings.

        1. The Central Ducted system comes with a thermostat that provides multiple controls, such as Sleep mode, a Follow Me function, a Timer, the ability to set a schedule, and a number of other features. Whether or not you want to use a third party thermostat is completely up to you and your personal needs!

  6. With the central ducked system, can you add on a wall mount units like you can for a mini split? Was thinking the wall mount units would be great for a finished basement.

    1. It comes in three different physical sizes depending on its capacity. The 18k and 24k air handlers are 17.52″D x 45″H x 21.02″W. The 30k, 36k, and 48k air handlers are 21.02″D x 49.02″H x 21.02″W. The 60k air handler is 24.49″D x 52.99″H x 21.02″W.

      1. Thanks. Can the AH be disassembled to be brought through a small attic opening and then reassembled to the installed location ?

  7. Does the Central Ducted condenser have any kind of coating for corrosion protection like the Universal has Gold Fin?

  8. Do the Heat pumps in the Central Ducted or the Universal product lines qualify for the Inflation Reduction Act tax credits or rebates? Is the Energy Star certification in the processing for the Central Ducted and Universal product lines?

  9. I am considering 2 of your units for my 2 story home. Both will be 30K units. Approximately 2 weeks ago I called and was put into a que for a call back and have yet to receive any communciation. Some of my questions include, can you hook up the new air handler to an existing copper return, supply and drain for the second story unit. Trying to avoid cutting a hole in the side of the home and running an external line and drain set. Do the Mr Cool supplied thermostats communicate with each other in a 2 zone install. Who is the manufacturer on the 30 K compressor? Are parts readily available for technicians outside of your network without going into a que for a call back? Thanks

    1. We apologize for this inconvenience. Connecting your air handler to an existing line set depends on the system you’re getting. If it’s a system that’s not pre-charged, then an HVAC professional should be able to use the previous line sets. If you’re purchasing a DIY system, then the DIY pre-charged line sets must be used. There is one thermostat per air handler. If you are in need of parts, please give us a call or use the contact page to send an email and submit a warranty request.

  10. Why is there such a difference in the operating temperature from this to the universal? Love the warranty but the change in operating conditions is tough. The 36k universal unit shows capacity down to -22F of 18,400, but the specs for the central ducted cut out entirely below 5F. Is there really no function at these temps for the central duucted?

    1. As stated in the manual, the operating outdoor temperatures for the 18k-24k BTU systems can go as low as -13ºF, while the 30k-60k BTU capacities can go as low as 5ºF. We apologize, but we recommend using auxiliary heat kits with the larger Central Ducted systems when temps are that low.

  11. Looking to purchase either a 4ton universal or 4 ton ducted. In Oklahoma we have a lot of humidity. I want a unit that can control the humidity well. I see the universal has a variable speed compressor, and the ducted has a 3 speed air handler. Which is better for drying the air out

    1. Since neither one is specifically designed for dehumidification, it would be around the same for both. The variable speed compressor might be able to keep up with general demand a bit better, but it likely wouldn’t be a noticeable difference with regards to dehumidification between the two.

  12. Why did you discontinue this unit? what’s the replacement and when is the launch? do you go from a 22 seer to 17.4seer2 and call that progress?

    1. The new Central Ducted Hyper Heat is essentially another generation or advancement of the original Central Ducted series with better heating capabilities. SEER and SEER2 are different rating systems pertaining to different methods of testing, and the industry has shifted from using SEER to primarily using SEER2. There is not really a clean way to compare/convert SEER to SEER2, but if you’re in the north, anything with a SEER2 rating of 13.4 or higher OR 14.3 SEER2 or higher if you’re in the south is a good SEER2 rating.

      1. Will you offer a 1.5 ton unit with the new hyper heat? Also, if it is essentially the same unit with a different rating systems does it no longer qualify for the same tax credit as the central duct?
